"Hum Badlenge" is an initiative by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) to engage students from around 250 Indian universities as part of a transformative movement to create a stronger, more inclusive NSUI presence in educational institutions across the nation.

Target Group

Diverse and Inclusive Representation: Special emphasis will be placed on identifying candidates from underrepresented groups, including women, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), minority communities, and students from various cultural backgrounds.

Campaign Structure: Nirmaan & Sangharsh

The Hum Badlenge campaign will have two major phases: Nirmaan (Building) and Sangharsh (Struggle), each focusing on different aspects of organizational growth.

1. Nirmaan Phase
The Nirmaan phase will focus on selecting and nurturing a team of capable Campus Ambassadors. NSUI representatives will visit these campuses stay there for a week and personally engage with campuses to identify potential candidates through:

  • Open Registration: Interested students will register through online portal.
  • Campus Engagements: NSUI’s NOBs, State Presidents, and other representatives will visit university campuses, interacting with professors, prominent alumni, political leaders, civil society, and workers' unions to identify suitable candidates.
  • Building Networks: A coordination group of influential campus voices will be formed to ensure the support and identification of potential candidates.

2. Sangharsh Phase
In the Sangharsh phase, Campus Ambassadors will actively engage in:

  • Campus Mobilization: They will spearhead efforts to identify additional ambassadors, raise student issues, and build alliances on campuses.
  • Campaigns and Advocacy: Ambassadors will lead NSUI campaigns on issues relevant to their university communities, such as prominent student concerns including fellowship, hostels etc., lack of social justice and gender equality in the campus.
  • Media and Social Media Engagement: Ambassadors will be trained to effectively manage media relations and lead social media campaigns, amplifying NSUI’s idea.

Implementation Strategy

The Hum Badlenge campaign will be implemented in three stages:

Stage 1: Find and Select

  • Campus Visits and Interactions: Key NSUI members will spend time on campuses, meeting with students, faculty, and community leaders to identify potential Campus Ambassadors.
  • Diverse Selection Process: Candidates will be assessed for their passion for social change, alignment with NSUI’s principles, and leadership qualities.

Stage 2: Training and Capacity Building

  • Workshops and Seminars: Regular workshops will be held, providing training on political awareness, student mobilization, media engagement, and issue-based advocacy.
  • Mentorship: Selected students will receive mentorship from Senior Congress leaders and political figures, including opportunities for one-on-one guidance.

  • Issue-Based Campaigns: Ambassadors will lead campus-level campaigns and events aligned with NSUI’s mission and national initiatives.
